“If you’re feeling frightened about what comes next, don’t be. Embrace the uncertainty. Allow it to lead you places. Be brave as it challenges you to exercise both your heart and your mind as you create your own path towards happiness, don’t waste time with regret. Spin wildly into your next action. Enjoy the present, each moment, as it comes; because you’ll never get another one quite like it. And if you should ever look up and find yourself lost, simply take a breath and start over. Retrace your steps and go back to the purest place in your heart… where your hope lives. You’ll find your way again.”—- Everwood (via julie911)
having time to read again (finished an entire book last night!) // fresh flowers // farmers market goodies // working AC unit // amusing text messages // movie dates with Em (Magic Mike, anyone? CANNOT WAIT!) // a good dish of ice cream // picking street festivals to attend this summer // making a hair appointment to get re-blonded // gift shopping for friends and family // printing photos to update the frames on my desk and in my house // long walks in the early morning with the puppy // a cold diet coke // rewatching favorite old movies // visiting with old friends over a favorite meal
I’m 25 years old and I still feel this way sometimes. I’m sure there are people who are 35, 45, etc. that share the same feelings. Maybe, just maybe, if we all spent a little more time trying to be together, the world could be a better, kinder place.
I hope you all have a relaxing day with friends and family. Please take a moment to remember and thank the men and women in all branches of our armed forces. Their courage, honor and sacrifice kept us safe and protect our freedoms the worked over. Thank you all!
Welcome Race Fans! It’s here - what you call Memorial Day Weekend is Race Weekend here in Indy, and we’re out in full force! This is one of my favorite weekends of the year - it marks the end of our season for work, the city is buzzing with great energy and tons of people and we get to celebrate big time!
This weekend’s tagline is “Balloons, Ballgowns, and Beer” since my lineup for the weekend is the Parade (nation’s third largest!), a black-tie ball, and the Indy 500, baby!
In honor of this most redneck of holiday weekends, everything I post will be either black and white or race themed (get stoked for photos of my gown for tomorrow night!). Regular posting will resume next week, when I’ve come out of my hangover/work induced sleep coma :)
Is anyone else as obsessed with to-do lists as I am? That’s a hypothetical question - my dad’s lists make me look like a disorganized slob. But I do love lists. I’ll bet when I’m dead and buried, they’re going to discover a genetic marker for that.
To-do lists are my #1 survival tool for “my busy time” (as madre likes to call it) and I have to say, I’m scratching through my lists for this week/weekend like crazy! Tan and nail appointments made, dress altered, hair accessories purchased, etc. etc. Of course, there are still the packing lists and the timelines, but for the most part, my tasks and errands (at least of a personal nature) are done!
